On Monday, July 21, 2008, at approximately 6:11 p.m., officers responded to the Family Dollar at 840 West South Boulevard in reference to a business robbery.  The manager of the business stated that a male reached across the counter, grabbed her shirt, and told her to open the cash drawer and give him the money.  The suspect then fled the scene on foot behind the business after receiving an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency.  Patrol units gained information on the scene that led to Ruben Garrison, 31y/o, of 4120 Oak Street as a suspect.  Officers responded to the suspect’s address and took him into custody without incident.  The suspect was positively identified at the business as being the offender. Mr. Garrison was transported to the Detective Division and interviewed.  Subsequent to his interview, Mr. Garrison was charged with Robbery 3rd Degree.   Mr. Garrison has an extensive criminal history that dates back several years.  In fact, at the time of the Dollar Store robbery, Mr. Garrison was on probation for a Robbery 1st Degree he committed in 2003. A hold has been placed on Mr. Garrison through the Alabama Department of Pardons and Paroles. Mr. Garrison was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility with a $15,000.00 bond.
